Knockhill Stages Rally Sunday 9 December 2018

Following the success of the inaugural MSN Circuit Rally Challenge at Knockhill in 2017, Dunfermline Car Club has been asked to run the Knockhill Stages, on Sunday 9th December 2018.   As last year, the event will be using the off-road section around the car parks on the hill opposite the service area as well as the circuit.

It is time for my annual plea - I am looking for a full team of Marshals from all forms of Motorsport, to carry out a full range of duties, with all and any levels of experience for this years Premier Scottish Cross Country Event, the BRITPART Scottish "Borders" Hill Rally  17th & 18th November at Forrest Estate, Dumfries & Galloway, DG3 7XS 

MSA Operational Guide for Radios and Radio Marshals Handbook

Following the latest issue of the Stage Rally Safety Requirements the MSA has updated the Operational Guide for Radios and at the same time Chrys Worboys has updated the Radio Marshals Handbook. 

These can be found on the SMMC downloads page, or via the above links. 

The content will be covered as part of a Radio Training day being planned for early 2019 for which further details will follow in the near future. 

As included in the Operational Guide, each Radio Operator must be provided with a copy of the Radio Licence.  Please review the details against your call-sign and let me know by return if any updates are required.  You should have a copy of the licence with you when you are out on events.

MRG Kingdom Stages

Before the rallying attention starts to focus on the Welsh forests here is the usual Club advice for the final round of The Cobble Shop Scottish Tarmack Rally Championship, the Kingdom Stages.

The Application of motorsport engineering to create the electric cars of the future.

We have been invited to a lecture by Paul McNamara, Technical Director, Williams Advanced Engineering on Wednesday 3rd October at 2pm in Edinburgh Napier University, Craiglockhart Campus, Colinton Road Edinburgh.

In his talk Paul will describe the technologies within electric motorsport and how these are being implemented into road cars as well as discussing the expected future trends in transport electrification.

Memorial Garden Stages, Condor MC

Condor MSC are running the Memorial Garden Stages Senior and Junior rallies on the airfield at the Royal Marines RM Condor base in Arbroath on 15th September. 


For the rally to run safely we will need a team of marshals of all disciplines - timing, radio, in stage etc.  If you are available and would like to be a part of this exciting new event please contact either:

If anybody fancies competing, entries are still available.  A lot of improvements have been made to the stages since the last rally was run in 2016 and is an excellent venue with a variety of different challenges throughout the stages!  39 stage miles over 6 stages and part of the Junior Ecosse 1000 championship and a parallel Senior rally.

This September, the hills are alive with……

The sound of competition cars in various speed and rally events.  These events are looking for your support:

MRG – Armstrong Galloway Hills Rally

The final round of the 2018 ARR Craib MSA Scottish Rally Championship, the Armstrong Galloway Hills Rally, is being held on Saturday 8 September and your help in providing safety communications is requested.

The event is based in Castle Douglas with stages in the Galloway Forest Park – as featured in the TV series ’The Forest’

A reminder that the week before the rally, Rally and Cross Country Marshal Training will be held at the Barony College, Dumfries.  Sessions will cover Fire Theory, Fire Practical, Introduction to Radio, Incident Handling, FMOS, Incident Reporting or Spectator Safety, Stage Set up and Chain of Command.  To register go to: https://goo.gl/forms/Cb6kJuuGSveeMB7k2

MRG Events - Grampian Forest Rally

On Saturday 11th August the action returns to the forests for the penultimate round of the 2018 ARR Craib Scottish Rally Championship, the Grampian Forest Rally. 

Stages are in and around Fetteresso, Drumtochty and Durris, all close to Stonehaven.  A number of Radio Operators and Controllers are required to provide safety cover.

A reminder that from July Yellow Flags have been replaced by Red.  Make sure the correct colour is in your boot. 

Solway Coast Rally

On Saturday 4 and Sunday 5, Solway Car Club will organise three rallies at Dundrennan Military Ranges, near Kirkcudbright.  The usercarparts Solway Coast Rally will take place on Saturday followed by the Historic and Junior events on the Sunday. 

Basic accommodation will be available on site on both Friday and Saturday night.  Bookings will open in June – check out the event website (http://www.solwaycarclub.co.uk/solway-coast/faqs/) for more information.  Catering and bar facilities will also be available as will a dedicated area for tents, caravans and motorhomes.

Please note that as this is a working MOD facility no dogs or pets are permitted inside the Rally HQ compound (which includes Service Area, Accommodation Block and campsite).
